Question by Heather: What kind of dress is appropriate to wear to a wedding?
I am going to a high class wedding on Saturday and need to know what kind of dress to wear. It's going to be in the 80's and we will be outside for part of the day. Help!

You can never go wrong with a little black dress. That's what they're made for!

a cute sundress should be fine.. if in the 80s!
The classic little black dress. A cover up for evening,a little clutch purse and pumps. Beautiful! Have fun ,I love weddings!
Go with a more stylish formal dress, like one you’d wear to a dance but can actually walk in. I’d say look up some 80′s-ish fashion and try to modernize it a bit.
80′s?? In November? You’re lucky! Its in the 50′s here! But anyways…I would go sleeveless, but not too short. Normally you would wear the ‘simple black dress’ but you may blend in with the wedding party..haha. Since it is November, try a darker color dress, but not black. A deep red would look pretty. Good luck!
Anything you like that is not floor length or white. If you know the colour of the attendants gowns, out of respect, you might want to avoid that as well, . No other rules apply. If it is Catholic or Jewish, bare shoulders in the church/synagogue are not appropriate.
If it is a daytime wedding, any dressy dress (Sunday best) will work. If you happen to know what colors the bride is using, stay away from exactly “matching” the bridesmaids, but try not to clash with the wedding colors either–something in a complimentary shade. Black used to not be worn at weddings (funeral color, you know) but now is worn to more and more upscale weddings (little black dress), especially those in the fall and winter months. Oh, and don’t wear white or ivory–that color is reserved for the bride. Amazingly, I have seen some women break this rule but it is considered very tacky! Some of the customs are cultural or regional, so it might help to know what some of the other guests are wearing if you know any of them well enough to ask. Since you will be outside and the weather may be warm, you will also want to consider comfort and choose a weight of fabric that won’t wrinkle or “wilt”. If you are going to be outside walking on grass, I wouldn’t do stiletto heels not only because they wouldn’t be comfortable, but because your heels could sink through the sod or dirt and either ruin your shoes or even trip you up.
I would look for a Sunday best style dress with a bit of embellishment (sequins, embroidery, etc.) OR a modestly styled cocktail dress (not too much leg or cleavage.) You could also go the stylish suit route if you prefer (but this could get hot outside!) A department store such as Macy’s or Dillard’s will probably have a good selection of styles that would work for this occasion if you don’t already have something that will work.
Hiya, weddings are hard to dress for as you dont want to look nicer than the bride or steal her limelight
good luck..enjoy the wedding xxx
something thats just on knee maybe a halterneck with a little shurg to go over you shoulders…something thats not too revealing sophisticated but relaxed is the look you want….just dont wear anything tacky
what ever you do DONT WEAR WHITE
ummm hmmm
since it’s going to be held outside then you can’t wear a long gown…it’s impractical hehe
