Q&A: what do you think of my idea for second wedding?

Question by : what do you think of my idea for second wedding?
i was widowed at the beginning of last year and have since met my new partner, that proposed a few weeks ago. i have a son and he has a daughter and a son.
my plan is to be different from my first wedding as many of my guests will be the same. i am planning on an autumn wedding in 2012. a while away i know but saving up.
so far...red wedding dress with 2 bridesmaids in white with red sash and 2 page boys red ties. my flowers to be red, orange, yellow with plenty of foliage. registry office wedding with an outside reception. i plan to have a bbq lunch and hire an ice-cream cart for pudding. for entertainment i want old fair ground rides like a carousel and helta sceltar slide with maybe a couple of stalls like coconut shy. guest gifts will be emergency rain macs with my wedding date printed on just in case. im thinking a small picnic buffet in the evening which can be held inside if weather too bad.
any other ideas are welcomed but no white dress, pink or live band evening party as these were all at my first wedding.
casper4- yeah i dont want to make final decisions yet as is early but there is not many places near me that can allow fair ground rides if i do go with that idea and would need to book soon as one place is booked 2 years in advance.

I would wait a while before getting attached to any ideas. You still have a LONG time until the wedding, and your tastes will undoubtably change since then. I’ve only been engaged for 5 months, and I’ve already changed my mind dozens of times (and I even had some ideas before my engagement that have all fallen by the wayside). And I’m typically a pretty decisive person.

Your ideas sound nice, just wait until 2011 before purchasing anything or making any vendor commitments (aside from maybe a reception hall, and a church if you want one).

hi there its an old superstition but red and white together for a wedding is said to represent blood and bandages……
so perhaps have burgundy or or orange .
one of my mates got married this summer they had a BBQ which was great, they had games like cocnut shy, LIMBO, but helter skelter etc sounds great.
big tramplones for kiddies are great too supervised of course.
red wedding dress sounds fab, My mate wore a very sexy black number 1920s style, he was in top hat and tails their wedding dance was the charlston…..

good luck and have a fab day

Sounds fun and different to me. Go for it.
Red and white together only refers to hospitals and operations, not weddings.

I’m sorry you were widowed and delighted you have a new partner in life.

But dear one, this is a wedding – not a circus. I suggest you rethink the whole carnival midway idea and do something a little more sedate – you know – keep it small, simple and understated. Do involve your children of course – but as for the rides and raincoats – no. too over the top.

Again, this is a wedding – not a circus.
