when i looked at your parents photo (previous one) i thought how much your dad somehow reminded me of pictures of my own dad in the 1950′s. i was tempted to ask if there was an indian connection – but now i know! its very interesting to see this photograph.
My dad took me to see Madras and Tambaram in 1985.
I hear that they have changed a lot since then.
My mother’s family had a musical shop in Madras in the early 1900s … I’d love to find out more but it’s practically impossible to do research on such things now.
I know. I would like to visit India one day.
I have such lovely memories of Podanur, Bangalore and Madras.
Being so far away , it is very difficult to get photos. of churches/cemeteries where our family members were buried and our ancestors as well.
I have visited that site Celeste.
I also belong to a couple of other groups which are into researching Family Trees. They are India L etc etc
Have you been to Moore Market (shopping mall) in Madras.
I write articles/poems just little bits and pieces
Moore Market was a big red building where one can get anything… especially second hand books . It was demolished after a fire destroyed part of the building.around the mid – eighties
As a child we went to Madras every year to do our Christmas shopping . I have written an article about Moore Market.
WOW! Anglo-Indian Marriage!

I’ve only been once to Madras … it was in 1985.
I think that I might have been there, but I don’t remember.

this is so cool! i love that it’s like a castle — and a creative way to have several levels of cakes. i reposted the photo (w photo cred + link) on our blog: blog.theweddinglens.com/2009/06/11/cool-looking-cakes/
nlcf28, thanks for using my photo. it’s quite over the top isn’t it?!
it’s quite a while ago, but from memory, only the 3 main cakes were real. the rest were just foam blocks with icing.
looks impressive though!
