Question by suejuggins: When is the right time at a wedding, to give a horseshoe (ornamental) to the bride?UK answers please
when I got married a young friend gave me one of these after I came out of the church. am going to a wedding this weekend and would like to present the bride with a horseshoe but am unsure if my young friend gave mine at the right moment. Can't think of a more appropriate time though myself. Would appreciate some feedback from a more frequent wedding goer than myself, thanks. Have asked for UK answers in case the custom is different elsewhere.

When she comes out the.church for photos usually
Certainly not coming out of a church.
If she is religious she would be very offended to get a pagan good luck symbol outside a church.
Wait until the reception and try not to cause offence.
.
yep, when she comes out from the church……………..perfect timing, as she should be holding it while her pictures are being done.
When she gets on her horse.
when she has come out of church but before the photographs are taken have a great day at the wedding
Someone has just put their trust in God and you are going to give them a “good luck” symbol???
I don’t think that is very wise.
.
mean to be good luck
Perhaps try giving her something that is fits in with custom but is also a gift in its own right… perhaps in the form of a necklace?

Thought it was quite stylish…
As the bride and groom walk up the aisle to leave after ceremony completed. This is the time to start bestowing mementos.
My mother gave it to me once outside (I wasn’t married in church), and just before the photos.
I dont think anyone would see it as a Pagan symbol or anything bad, it’s just a nice wedding tradition, like something old…etc
Some people take things too seriously!
Thats when i got all mine. So the photography cold take pictures of them all been giving to me.
I have been to numerous UK weddings, and I have seen people carrying the horse shoe up the aisle – before the ceremony starts! I dont really know anything about it, but this is what I have seen at the weddings I have been to!
